We built our first pond (left picture) in 1994. Its's dimensions are 15x8x2. Home to comet goldfish, a few Koi, lilies and cattails, it is located between an unattached garage and the house. We enjoyed it so much that we had to build on !! Go figure ! In 1997 a second pond (right picture) was dug across the yard. (17x12x3) We had just enough fall to connect the two with a small stream. A waterfall was added also to the first pond. An under-gravel filter system was put in the new pond. Our pump now pumps water from our new pond up to the waterfall at the old pond and back down to the lower pond via the stream. Home of many goldfish and a couple of amurs (grass eating carp), the water runs clear and the stream is enjoyed by many birds. Another small diamond shaped, out of the ground , water fountain (6x6), was added in another section of yard this year. When will the insanity stop?

Again, in 2007, we just couldnt leave well enough alone. We completely tore out the larger pond, dug it 2 deeper added bottom drains, widened the stream, and completely replaced the existing filtration system. We love the difference and maintenance has now become so much easier with the bottom drains gravity flowing into settling chambers which can be dumped with the flip of a valve. Were exclusively koi now and love our fishy friends.
